Juan is the cook at the restaurant/nightclub "Gleam", owned by retired '60's rocker and music executive Joan Slick. No one expects much, or thinks much of him, and treats him with the typical indifference asserted to many first generation immigrants. But Juan is actually a gifted musician from a very wealthy, and politically connected, family in Mexico. Finally, Joan gives him a shot at a performance. About a week later, after he told his family of his pending record deal, The club is flooded with latin dignitaries and body guards...who knew?
